This painting is part of an ongoing exploration of the psychology of graffiti art and its effects on the public perception.  In one of his early stencils Banksy stated:  "If graffiti actually changed people's minds, they would have made it illegal."  Most graffiti artists say they can't stop--they won't stop--even when arrested.  One Los Angeles artist pointed out that it is possible for a convicted graffiti artist to go to jail for as long as a convicted rapist.

This painting speaks to that devotion of the artist to risk not only arrest, but exposure of their souls to all who view their work; whether supportive, indifferent, or openly hostile.  It's that important.
