My Hand Got Old

Sold

Oil on canvas, 22 x 14 inches unframed, 26 x 19 inches framed.  Completed February 2021.

Alain de Botton, in his extraordinary book, Art As Therapy, encourages artists to: "...help [all of us] to overcome the extraordinary difficulties we have in imagining ourselves in any other period of life than the one we happen to be in.  [Artists] would promote a sense of life as a whole, nevertheless made up of distinct phases."

In this painting my dog and I have just noticed, maybe for the first time, that my hand is old.  As in, my hand got old, but I didn't.  Best if both of us log that little fact away, lean back, and enjoy the beautiful day streaming in through the window.
